Pinoy Rock in Toronto -Updated with Video
Lolita Carbon, Boboy Doromal, Joey "Pepe" Smith, Boy Militar ©2009
May 25, 2009
Boboy flew to Toronto for a reunion with some Pinoy rockers including our cousin, Boy Militar and Lolita Carbon from the groups Asin and Lolita and the Boys. From the Juan Dela Cruz Band: Mike Hanopol, Joey "Pepe" Smith, Wally Gonzalez and Franco Hanopol.
Unlike some of the cover bands from the Philippines, these musicians compose and perform their own songs.
Here are some photos taken from a couple nights of performances:

Hi Mam Wendy, can you invite them
(ASIN) to come to Saipan and have a
a concert for a cause for all Guest
Workers ?
And if possible free admission like
Martin N. concert...
Mike H.song says para tayo mag sama-sama sa "LANGIT" ang pag-asa
These musicians were my fave during my high school and throughout my college days in Manila... Many times watch them at several big place. They're really great!!!
Boboy was talking about doing a concert for the guest workers in the CNMI. (Limot na Bayani is a great song too)
All of the musicians except for Boboy and our cousins Boy (guitarist with long hair) and Isabel Militar (bass player -second from right bottom photo) and our niece Aysa (bass player, keyboard player, vocalist - beautiful girl next to Boboy bottom photo) have visas only to Canada. We would have to figure this visa thing out. Right now they are touring Canada. I will try.
Do you have a video you can put here?
Please invite them to Saipan!
What group was Boboy with? ASIN?
To 10:45 anonymous - Severino posted a video of Usok with Lolit, Boboy and Boy on my Facebook page. I will ask him to put it on You tube.
To 10:58 anonymous - Boboy was with Unknown Band, ASIN and Lolita and the Boys in the Philippines and performed solo in Baguio and Manila. He performed in the Hobbit House.
I'm a fan and I had a privilege to sing with him although it was a few lines. He's not only good with singing, also with cooking. It would be so wonderful if they can come and perform here in Saipan. Mam Wendy, isn't it Paulo on the right?

Boboy is an amazing cook, and you sing very well too!
Yes, that is our dear friend Paulo. I will post a better photo of him.
Hope all is well with you...
hey guys-
it was nice meeting kuya Boboy at the concert--
i was the dude that sang cotabato with lolita--
I didn't know that you guys are up here doing gigs. I definitely want to see you guys play--
Say hi to Aysa for me-- i think we met after the set with Lolita-
Ian
Hey Ian
How did you find this web site?! It was good to meet you too!
Come visit us in Florida where I play and join me in a set.
For the visa, they may want to try for the 706(J) "distinguished merit" entry permit, which is for "an alien who is of distinguished merit and ability in a scientific, technical, academic, or artistic field of endeavor, and who is coming temporarily to the CNMI to perform temporary service of an exceptional nature requiring such merit and ability."
(Of course, if they are coming to help overthrow the very immigration system by which they seek entry, they may not want to mention that on the application.)
I am trhiled to see my favs folks singers pictures, I wish you could rolls some gigs on this site... please ate wendy.

Thanks so much for this information. We will check this out! Oh, and I don't think they attempt to overthrow, just entertain. Of course, their songs are pro-worker -Boboy's especially.
I love Lolita's voice.
Me too -she sounds like Janis Joplin.
I LOVE that song! Thanks!
Dear Wendy,
I would love to see them sing and have a consert here. My 9 & 7 yrs. old US cit. sons love to hear some tagalog songs esp. from ASIN. I'm sure young generation from here will be delighted to see them perform and hear some of our OPm songs. Pls. have a concert here for the guest worker and for ALL.
Will work on this!
Hi Kuya Boboy,
Thanks for replying back--it was really nice and awesome experience meeting you guys for the first time--and Kuya Boy Militar who is an amazing ----words can't describe guitarist---
i hope i'll be able to visit you guys and be able to relive how it was back in day in the P.I at the height of your careers--
I found the website while working searching through gig videos from the last concert--which i'm still going crazy about --
it amazes me how close knit all the musicians are from the phils and how vast they cover the globe--
I'm just glad to have been apart of that wonderful night which will last me a lifetime--
one things for certain-- i never got a chance to take a pic with you and Kuya Boy Militar--(i'm sad about that) cause when i googled you guys out-- I was like wow-- i was in the same concert with legends!!!!!!!!!
I've been in Saipan for 15 yrs. now and never watch a single concert here. I used to be a sound technician back n P.I. that's why me very delicate when it comes to sound system. Unfortunately there's no decent sound system here in saipan for concert, would be awesome if Asin could come here with a nice sound system to use. just my personal opinion.
Yes, I agree, ever since during
F.Marcos regime ASIN songs are pro
worker.
That's why the Filipinos love their
songs so much...Espicially the
Cebuanos
I heard Boboy play. He rivals Clapton and Santana, and the guy can sing. He has a famous guitar playing cousin on Guam too.
Thank you ate wendy for showing the video, ohh! they are so great,I wish I could watch them again live .The last time I watch them live in concert back then at the areneta coliseum ( phil.)that was in 1978 it's amazing.
Hey, I just wanted to let you guys know that Journey - featuring Arnel Pineda - is coming to Buffalo, NY for a concert on August 28th.
