Hello, EPA. . .?

April 18, 2012

. . .Yes, I would like to ask if it okay for a territorial government to allow another country to use a U.S. island as their trash site?

Anything for a buck, right? Earlier this year Governor Fitial suggested leasing an island to the Chinese. Now his buddy Rep. Frolian Tenorio is suggesting a deal with Japan to lease one of the northern islands for use as a dump for tsunami trash.

After the tsunami struck Japan over a year ago, 25 million tons of trash have been floating in the Pacific Ocean. More is piled on the Japanese islands.

Are we to believe that a Japanese company called the CNMI Government to suggest that it allow them to use one of the northern islands as a trash dump? Or was this one another scheme to make a quick buck?

Probably one of the few things that the CNMI has going for it, is its natural beauty. Why take an island and make it a trash dump? Who will monitor this process? Will the trash sit there or be buried? Who will bury it and take responsibility? What impact would a typhoon have on the trash pile? What's to say that trash won't wash into the ocean to become a part of the floating Pacific garbage patch or create another environmental disaster? What impact will this have on the environment?

If the Marianas Trench National Marine Monument ever gets organized enough to provide eco-tourism trips to the Northern Islands, the tour guides can always stop by the island-dump and brag that it was created purposely to get some quick cash. Call it the prostitution of the environment.

The Saipan Tribune reported that a company official would be meeting with Governor Fitial next week. Maybe he's planning the meeting for Earth Day?

We're having more than enough!!!It's sickening to think that these officials' brain are much more polluted than these trashes. I just feel really bad and helpless. I truly want to demonstrate my anger and frustrations against this administration. I want to walk all the way up to Capitol Hill and show off my banner that loudly says...RESIGN, FITIAL!!! RESIGN!!!
But who will listen to me? US doesn't seem to care anymore specially for our little kids. I don't need you EGGLESS and SPINELESS LOCALS to join me. YOU're all COWARD in so many ways! I am a CW but I am really worried for my US citizen child's future here on Saipan who is just 11 year old. I want Saipan to be crime-free, retain its pristine water and clean air for my son to enjoy and be proud of in the future. Too bad, my son likes to stay here!!

You've obviously never been to the Northern Islands. If you had you would clearly understand the difficulties in getting there and the outrageous cost of doing so. The Monument was a symbolic victory for the powerful left wing liberal lobbying firm PEW. It takes enormous effort to make it to Maug or Pagan. There will be no visitors center. No park rangers stationed on Uracas. Nothing. This was a ruse. The true meaning of the Monument lies in the declaration by the President. "At the US Military's discretion." Think about it. You can take your blinders off now.

You are correct. We don't give a hoot about your opinion. You are a CW and made it clear the only reason you are here is because your child does not want to leave. You are one of the problems here, suppressing our economy, taking jobs for U.S. Citizens, building shacks to live in, no building codes, dangerous, and totally disgusting in appearance. You contribute nothing to the CNMI except leaching off the social services with your anchor baby. Your status as a CW1 should be in question now as our government is about to crash and be totally reorganized. One of the key elements in that is to raise the minimum wage to meet the minimum standards. These jobs will not be for the CW's and they will not be petitioned for. With no petitions, we would have a max exodus. Sure times will be rough for the real people of the cnmi but they have fought bigger battles that this. The appearance of saipan beaches is unacceptable and I place the blame on non residents. I see at least once a week, a gathering on the beach of non residents (normally workers). They bring all their supplies, food, etc and have their function there. When it is time to leave, they pile up their trash in a pile, some in bags, the Bulk not.
The stray dogs come with an hour or so and rip open any bags the can and spread it even further away. All because you refuse to take with what you brought to the beach. I firmly believe that one agency is in charge of littering laws and they are being very neglectful. I have made mentions to several people I see at the beach, most non residents, about dropping a piece of trash, breaking a glass bottle, leaving a bag of trash and basically get the response "Not our problem, no trash cans here". From a napkin to a plastic fork, form a juice box straw to empty beer can, these are all minor but are fine-able.

First post signs on the beach with the rules of littering. Find people willing to patrol it and issue bio-hazardous personal protective equipment, citations, hire people willing to pick up the trash and haul it away. Estimate the costs for this average occurrence and that will determine amount of the fine on the citation. When it comes to individuals having no pride in your land or other peoples lands, only the $$$$$$ will change your behavior practices. Make the fines structured, 1st offense $50.00, second offense $150, 3rd offense $300 and 4th offense $500 minimum with 100 community hours, supervised cleaning beach debris to include under waterline. A digital camera, paper, and pencil is a wonderful thing. Makes it very easy for the judge to decide who is right and wrong. Back to your comment, Be a man, take your child, and leave this horrible place where you feel you are in a land of cowards. Saipan is falling fast and there will be very little room for non residents once this happens. Go now for kid.

That’s exactly what I meant! You are coward in so many ways to face the real problem. Blame it all to CWs who are powerless and have no rights!! Take a look at the mirror, you know you’re lying!
Why not gather yourself and bring it up to proper authorities. MAKE THEM WORK AND SERVE YOU, SERVE THE PEOPLE FIRST!!!! You have all the right and means to fix it! SAY IT LOUD and DO IT NOW!
Like what you said I am just a CW, and I am a proud CW. I take pride in everything that I do. I work hard to earn to live. I’m not depending on any government’s help. I don’t spit pugua anywhere. I am just a messenger! We’re here to do what you cannot do, to fix what you cannot fix. Don’t get mad at me, as it won’t solve your problems.
I will stand by my son, no matter what you say. I will teach him to fight for his right. Don’t tell me to go home, I will not listen to you or to your governor. YOU ARE NOT THE LAW for us to obey! Actually, you don’t need to tell us to go home, CW nurses and doctors are leaving. Probably, you can’t afford now to get maids and farmers to fix your food. CW Engineers are going to Dubai, Koreans are now flooding the Philippines. So, what the heck staying here! How about the locals crawling to Oregon? You will be left behind with nothing but trash, no choice but to beg others, WE NEED YOUR TRASH, IT’S MONEY TO US, PLEASE DUMP IT HERE!!!
Take my words as a challenge! BE smart and exercise your precious rights. Prove to me that I am wrong, that you are not coward. Most CWs came from countries’ that have experienced, faced and ousted tyrants and powerful crooks. Like CWs, prove to me that you are dignified and could stand tall like us.

TAGLISH is right. As a CW she has no rights and is disenfranchised. All of the foreign workers can just watch the CNMI collapse around them. They did not vote the incompetent and corrupt officials into office, but they suffer the consequences for their ridiculous actions, or lack of action, whatever the case. Her child is a U.S. citizen and has as much right to live in the CNMI or anywhere in the US as you do. The foreign workers are in the CNMI because there are not enough skilled locals to perform their jobs. You should be grateful. Perhaps when they do leave and needed institutions like CHC shut down, you will get it.

You said, "You contribute nothing to the CNMI except leaching off the social services with your anchor baby. " This is a person who contributes a great deal through her job. You do not know what you are talking about!

As for littering -what a racist comment! Have you forgotten that charges were filed against a local for littering American Memorial Park?

You are not correct. Yes we give a hoot about your opinion to express displeasure. I was a former CW and I made it clear that the only reason we are here is because not only our child does not want to leave but their parents are demanded here. We are not the problems here, we are the solutions. You are the one suppressing your economy that is under your control. CW are not taking jobs for U.S. Citizens we were hired because you cannot even do what we can do or compete with CW in you own land to get a job because simply you cannot do it. We are not building shacks to live in... when I came here you do not have building codes that we already applying in our country where we came from... I remember when everyone wanted to build their home from a piece of paper only... because no building codes here, dangerous, and totally your house are disgusting in appearance... we brought building codes here. You said we contribute nothing to the CNMI except leaching off the social services with your anchor baby... this is a childish bitterness and I don't waste my time responding to this. You said our status as a CW1 should be in question now as your government is about to crash and be totally reorganized... organized? you make me laugh... I spent half of my life here and never seen organized until now. You said "one of the key elements in that is to raise the minimum wage to meet the minimum standards" you're dreaming, your guv is the mastermind to suppress wages here. You said "These jobs will not be for the CW's and they will not be petitioned for"... 20+ yrs ago every workers' renewal need to ads our position for locals to fill-in until now nobody still qualified in my position and will always be until I retire. You should fight bigger battles for your gov't not us. You said "The appearance of saipan beaches is unacceptable and I place the blame on non residents... how many of you volunteer to pick trashes at the beach for the past 2 decades?... Wendy is right that no CW ever charge of any littering anytime anywhere.

You said "Be a man, take your child, and leave this horrible place where you feel you are in a land of cowards. Saipan is falling fast and there will be very little room for non residents once this happens. Go now for kid"... you never have any battle in your entire life and history until now (except pushing another to advance for a welfare)... you made me laugh when you said "be a man..." -Melberlin-

Try FDM, the Federal Government's own dumping ground. Maybe your Marine Monument friends can stop by and diffuse some 500lb cluster bombs? That island has been bombed so many times it split in two. Pagan will be used as a bombing range in two years. There will be no protests, nothing. There will be no eco tourism when they get "organized". Who's gonna pay 5k to get up to Maug Wendy? That's right. It will be the most EXPENSIVE eco tour in the world. Better go to Borneo or Costa Rica or the Galagapos- waaay cheaper. That whole PEW monument was a total joke from the beginning and it will remain so. Angelo and a few other paid lobbyists made some good money off of this.
