CNMI Governor Fitial's Impeachment Talk Making International Headlines

September 1, 2012

Governor Fitial's impending impeachment has hit international news.  From Australia to The Huffington Post.

The Huffington Post article by Bill Moyers and Michael Winship noted that the official GOP Platform calls for no minimum wage for the CNMI:
No minimum wage for the Mariana Islands. "The Pacific territories should have flexibility to determine the minimum wage, which has seriously restricted progress in the private sector."
The Washington Post listed the CNMI minimum item as "one of the ten oddest in the GOP Platform." Odd, perhaps because the Washington Post author did not know the history, but Moyers detailed the dark history of the CNMI, ill-treatment of workers and Fitial's connections to felon Jack Abramoff and the self-serving, hypocrite Ralph Reed.

Apparently, Fitial has been in touch with his old GOP friends, who slipped that crap into the GOP Platform.  Ever the opportunist, the governor bailed from the Covenant Party to snake into the Republican Party believing that the Republicans will be in power after the November elections and he can once again use the corrupt and sleazy in Washington to push his evil agenda.

It may be wishful thinking to assume that a Republican President will be elected. It may also be wishful thinking to assume that Governor Fitial will still be in office come November.

Fitial's old pal, Ralph Reed was at the RNC in Tampa. So was Jack Abramoff, but according to news reports, he was there as a reformed man to expose the dark side of lobbying. The Husffington Post story detailed some of the past connections between Abramoff, Reed and Fitial.

There is one inaccuracy in the Huffington Post story. I think that the authors were punked by a poser pretending to be Governor Fitial in a twitter account.  The Huffington Post article stated:
Meanwhile, increasingly vocal calls have come for the impeachment of the islands' longtime governor, Benigno Fitial, an old Abramoff pal. Nonetheless, there Fitial was in Tampa, unrepentant and front and center, head of the islands' official Republican delegation. "Having too much fun in Tampa... to worry about this supposed impeachment waiting for me back home," he tweeted at his followers, and "I guarantee you no one is going to impeach me. I own this Legislature! No one will dare defy me!" Wow.
I looked at the link to Fitial's supposed twitter account and it appears to be a hoax. Here are some tweets from "Governor Fitial":
I wonder if it is legal to impersonate an elected official?

"wonder if it is legal to impersonate an elected official?"

I would like to see Fitial try and get the Feds to investigate if it is illegal. LOL

That photo is from an old San Francisco trip that his wife had posted on facebook. I recognized it because I posted it this site in August 2011. Look here

Anonymous 3:23 I No, I really wonder if it is legal. It could be "funny" to people, but seriously a major reporter has mistaken the account for a legitimate account and quoted from it. I imagine Fitial could sue the person/people who posted the account if he can find out who they are. But after all of the ILLEGAL acts of the governor it sure would be something to see! And I think that Bill Moyers and other reporters will be probing deeper into the CNMI scandals.

Hi Angelo

Yes but Jennifer Lopez's nipple never tweeted and it is just as obvious that the governor did not set up this twitter account!

Now the Gov. is asking the feds for help to prosecute the person(s)that are responsible for the fake twitter account.
I seriously doubt if the Feds would expend much resources (if any) on this.
This is so typically hypocritical of this clown (Fitial)in regards to the Feds.
The Feds should be spending more time and resources investigating this guy.
They probably are, but as in other cases such as the former Mayors on Tinian, they have waited until the end of their terms before they prosecute unless it is something like the "ghost employee" deals such as the ones that involved the Rota and Tinian Senators. (Stanly almost got caught up in that one but the Feds screwed up retrieving evidence)
This is so funny, Fitial should tell his DPS Mafia to do something in regards to this instead of feeding their faces and breaking the law all the time.
But then again, DPS could not find their own shoes while they are on their feet. But then again they can not even see past their belly to see their own feet so I guess they have an excuse)LOL.

Hi Captain

Gee, I hope I didn't plant the seed questioning whether a fake twitter account of an official is legal...
