The DHS gave 5 vehicles valued at $158,000 to DPS.
The U.S. DOJ needs to investigate the corrupt and abusive CNMI Department of Public Safety NOW. It does not need to enable it, fund it, or ignore that officers and administrators are using DPS to break laws and assist others in covering up criminal acts.
Tenorio Objects to Impeachment
Former Governor Froilan Tenorio has voiced his objections to corrupt Governor Benigno Fitial's impeachment saying the impeachment "would set a bad precedent."
It is not surprising that Tenorio thinks that Fitial is guilty only of bad "policies" since he also was a governor he felt he was above the law and could bully, manipulate, lie and scheme.
Fitial will be the first governor of the CNMI to be impeached, regardless of Tenorio's two cents.
Superior Court Associate Judge Wiseman Appoints Special Prosecutor
Attorney George Hasselback OPA Counsel has been appointed as the special prosecutor in the criminal case against former AG Edward Buckingham. According to the Saipan Tribune, Hasselback has statutory authority to bring criminal charges against Buckingham, and suspected co-conspirators, including Governor Fitial and the DPS officials who aided Buckingham in fleeing from the commonwealth.
Wiseman noted that the OAG's conflict of interest was not limited to Buckingham but also included the police officers and other public officials involved in the conspiracy.
From the Saipan Tribune:
The judge said Hasselback asserts that the OPA's ongoing investigation has revealed strong evidence that certain police officers and/or public officials unlawfully aided Buckingham in attempting to avoid service of summons process.Indeed. So one has to ask why the U.S. DOJ and DHS are not investigating this case involved DPS officials breaching security at an international airport.
