State of Union

January 29, 2014

The most important words in President Obama's State of the Union speech:

"When people come here to fulfill their dreams - to study, invent, contribute to our culture - they make our country a more attractive place for businesses to locate and create jobs for everybody. So let's get immigration reform done this year. It's time."

The GOP has already stated it will be a piecemeal approach with 8 parts in order. They will not entertain or discuss it with the Senate in this Congress. The 8 parts will be voted separately one at a time. It may (or may not) include a long path to citizenship but the percentage will be low, as there is a strong number of GOP Congressmen that believe if they take immigration reform home to each district, their unemployed voters will beat them at home at the polls because they have won previously on "no citizenship" platforms.

I think something may pass but it won't be what immigrants had hoped for.

You can't believe what GOP says. They change every few months. I think it's all a game. Washington can't get anything done. Washington politicians care more about getting elected than doing the job they collect big checks for. They get paid to fight. Nothing will change until the American people take back the government and put the people back into government. All legal immigrants deserve green cards.
